How We Use Project Groups

Project groups are created as needed to explore specific topics and bring recommendations back to Full Council. Members of these groups are a mixture of parish councillors and members of the public with an interest in the given topic. Alongside our long‑running groups, some short‑term, task‑focused groups form when particular issues arise and are dissolved once their work is complete.

For information about all current project groups and how to take part, please call the Parish office.

When a new project group is established, it is given a set of Terms of Reference based on our approved template. You can view this template using the link below.

Established Project Groups

Environment and Biodiversity

Alongside our regular assets maintenance and general restructuring, we are putting in place sustainability actions and recycling initiatives, such as recycling bins special plastics and metals, blister packs, and we also organise littler picking events. We continue to review and make improvements and we will share our efforts as we go in our newsletter.

We’re also collaborating with Rushcliffe Borough Council to increase tree planting across Radcliffe on Trent. We also support community gardening with 2 areas dedicated to community allotments.

Safety and Security

To help address vandalism, the council has invested in a wider CCTV coverage in the past years. This helps us look after our assets and we can collaborate much more effectively with the police when incidents happen. If you witness suspicious activities or anti-social behaviour, please report to the police by calling 101.

Playgrounds

The Playgrounds Project Group looks at the condition and future needs of the village’s play areas. Its work includes supporting the office in reviewing and facilitating repairs, identifying opportunities for upgrades, exploring local needs and considering how each site can best serve local families. The group brings forward recommendations to ensure our playgrounds remain safe, welcoming and well‑maintained and adequately serve the whole community.

Other Ongoing Actions

Parish Council Team & Communication

In the recent years, the Parish Council has undergone a large restructuring within the staff team, redefining roles and needs to support a more efficient way to operate. As a result, our grounds team is better equipped to look after our parks and has been able to bring back some activities in-house rather than outsourcing them.

Alongside this operational work, the Council has been investing in a wider digital upgrade, gaining more ownership over our processes and online presence and communication tools. This ongoing project is helping us connect with residents more effectively and share information about council work and upcoming projects in a clearer, more consistent way.

A key focus of the group is improving community engagement. With residents using a wide range of communication channels, the team is exploring how to reach people more reliably—whether through digital platforms, printed materials, or more direct forms of outreach. The aim is to build a communication approach that is accessible, inclusive and reflective of how our community prefers to stay informed.

Grange and Grange Hall

Our Grange and Grange Hall Community Center is serving everyone in the community, from dance lessons to theater productions to local charities feeding our vulnerable and isolated residents. We’re currently exploring how to upgrade the theater equipment so it can serve our customers better, and we are also looking at how we can operate more efficiently and more sustainably.
