As part of our commitment to financial transparency and responsible stewardship of public resources, we maintain a comprehensive record of all assets owned and managed by the Council. This register includes everything from our historic buildings and open spaces to play equipment, street furniture, and essential machinery.”
Summary of Assets (as of December 2025):
• Total Asset Value: The Council manages a diverse portfolio with an estimated total value of approximately £5.9 million.
Key Asset Categories:
• Buildings & Heritage Structures: Includes significant sites such as The Grange (£1,000,000), The Grange Hall (£1,200,000), and the Rockley Bungalow (£400,000).
• Land & Open Spaces: Management of essential community areas like Wharf Lane Recreation Ground, Dewberry Hill, and the Cliff Walk.
• Community Infrastructure: Over 240 items of street furniture (benches, noticeboards, planters) and 40 pieces of play equipment across our parks.
• Condition and Maintenance: * Currently, 17 assets are identified as requiring immediate replacement, and 139 items are flagged for specific maintenance attention.
• The Council uses a data-driven approach to budgeting, allocating specific “Maintenance Reserves” and “Replacement & Upgrade Reserves” to ensure the long-term sustainability of these community assets.
