The Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council, a representative from Radcliffe Olympic and the owner of Oakfield Livery met with Severn Trent engineers and the Principle Officer for Flood Risk Management at Nottinghamshire County Council at the Wharf Lane Recreation Ground to find out why the flooding has not cleared after seven weeks.
The engineers have confirmed that the water is natural rainwater rather than sewage, but believe it is currently not draining because of a blockage in an underground drainage pipe, known as a culvert. This build up of water has not reduced since the last update, the Parish Council are working with the authorities to find a solution.
The relevant parties now need to carry out further investigation and identify the location of the blockage and establish a solution so the land can finally dry out and be ready for football again. The playgrounds remain open but we would strongly advise residents to avoid the flooded football pitch due to the risk of the water becoming stagnant.
